Salisbury Winter Sports Association
Third year on the newly rebuilt John Satre Hill Salisbury, CT --
February 8-10, 2013
The Salisbury Winter Sports Association (SWSA) was ready for their big weekend when Winter Storm Nemo came roaring through New England and upset the plans for the three days of jumping. First to go was the Friday evening target jumping -- cancelled early on Friday morning. The Saturday morning junior competition was postponed to after lunch to give the hill crew time to remove Nemo's snow from the hills. The junior jumping ran off successfully with 14 jumpers from three clubs.
Saturday's big hill competition was postponed to Sunday because of strong winds that followed the snowstorm, but SWSA chief scorer Mark Wilson reports the conditions on Sunday were superb.

Notice -- These are Corrected Results
After we posted results Sunday evening,
SWSA Secretary Holly Reid and scorekeeper Mark Wilson found some systematic errors and sent out corrected results. The changes seem to be mostly in the results of the first competition below, the Salisbury Invitational. It appears that incorrect judges scores were entered for the first round of jumping for all but two of the skiers. The finish order was changed only in one spot -- it was reversed for Trent White and Becket Ledger who were very close in score. We made several changes on Monday morning and reposted. Then Monday evening, with the help of a second note from Mark Wilson, we made some more changes, including one in the Eastern's results. We hope that we have now made all the needed corrections.

Two jumpoffs were scheduled for the weekend and both were run
at the end of the Sunday jumping, after the Eastern Championships.
The winner was the skier landing closest to the target without passing it.
Evan Bliss explains that there were two rounds in each target jump.
The second round was for the cash among the top six qualifiers from
the first round. The results below are for the second round in each case.
Only six of the skiers were competing for the prizes but all ten went up,
the four non-qualifying skiers acting as forejumpers -- just getting
another ride on a nice day for jumping. We cannot tell you which these were.

The Junior Nationals Team
The Sunday SWSA jump was the last qualifying competition for the team to represent the Eastern Division at the Junior National Championships to be held Feb 26 to Mar 3 in Minneapolis. The final activity at the Sunday afternoon awards ceremony was the introduction of the 2013 team: Luke Daniels, Matt Doyle, Miles Lussi, Karl Schulz and Trent White. Coaches will be Evan Bliss (jumping) and Margaret Maher (cross country). Good luck to the team -- jump far, ski fast, make friends and have fun.
